WHAT IS STASH FOR KIDS?

Stash For Kids is an extension of the Stash tax free investment, which has been specifically developed for South Africans under the age of 18 years.

Every parent wants to put their children in the best position for success. Parents strive to give their children the best education, best healthcare and best upbringing that they can provide, to lay the foundations for their adult lives.

But what about providing a financial foundation?

Introducing Stash For Kids - a tax-free investment that parents and guardians can open in the name of their children, investing in their future, tax free, by saving small amounts of money every day via their Stash app.

Using the same award winning* technology and investment philosophy, Stash For Kids allows you to build up a tax-free investment balance for your child from when they are born until they turn 18 years of age. With no fees, no tax and the benefit of time, your child’s investment has the best opportunity to grow, providing them with the best financial foundation you can offer.

THINGS TO NOTE

Stash does not interact directly with the child and does not take any instructions from children. You, as the Guardian/Parent of the child, manage the child’s Stash For Kids investment account and are responsible for facilitating contributions into the child’s investment account on their behalf.

As a Guardian, you must have an active Stash Tax Free Investment account in your own name before opening a Stash for your kids. Your contributions to your own Stash Tax Free Investment Account are subject to the your own annual and lifetime contribution limits (currently R36 000 per annum and R500 000 respectively).

Contributions facilitated by you into your child(ren)’s Stash For Kids Tax Free Investment accounts contribute to their own annual (R36 000) and lifetime (R500 000) limits and not your own.

Contributions to Stash For Kids investment accounts are collected from the same connected bank card that you use to contribute to your own Stash Tax Free Investments.

Contributions facilitated by you, the Guardian, and collected on behalf of the child comprise donations, settlements or dispositions made by you to the child. These donations, settlements or dispositions made by you to your child(ren) may have tax consequences for you. You must obtain tax advice from your tax practitioner or financial adviser in order to understand the tax consequences of making such donations, settlements or dispositions to your child(ren).
