Liberty Corporate today announced the line-up of thought leaders in the employee benefits industry who will be speaking at the first Liberty Corporate Employee Benefits Symposium, to be held on 17 October 2016 at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg.

The event aims to bring together some of South Africa's key thinkers in employee benefits to share their insights and best practices.

The symposium will see local and international experts share best practices with CEOs, CFOs, HR Directors, Trustees, and Financial advisers on a range of topics including; key trends in employee benefits, innovative and low-cost strategies for employee engagement, negotiating relationships, managing cyber risk, and creating a culture of customer centricity by looking after your employees.

Speakers at this inaugural event include, Liberty's Group Chief Executive: Thabo Dloti, Willis Towers Watson's MD: Ant Lester, former Chief Negotiator for the South African Government: Roelf Meyer, Edcon's Remuneration and Benefits GM: Nazlie Samodien and Kevin Links: Chief Economist at Stanlib amongst others.

Sandile Hlophe, Liberty's Chief Executive of Group Arrangements, says that employee benefits provide a significant opportunity for SMEs, large corporates and multinationals to create long-term value for their employees by providing holistic employee value propositions. "Holistic employee value proposition insights are central to our discourse at this inaugural thought leadership event. We aim to drive engaging dialogue on issues that can positively contribute to the bottom line by creating long-term value for employees."

"We are proud to present our inaugural Liberty Corporate Employee Benefits Symposium, which will serve as an annual platform for engaging in conversations about employee benefits in South Africa. The success of this event will see it being exported to other parts of Africa where Liberty has a presence to help shape the future of the employee benefits industry in our chosen markets," says Hlophe.

"We have assembled leading experts in various areas of employee benefits to drive this conversation. Our intent is to encourage ongoing dialogue to stimulate innovation and best practice for the benefit of employers and employees," he says.

The event will also host a panel discussion on investments, which will be facilitated by CNBC Africa's Gugulethu Cele. Titled "Time to batten down the hatches", the panel will showcase views from the country's leading investment specialists and portfolio managers from Allan Gray, Coronation, Investec, and Stanlib.
