Long Term Protector Plus

Long Term Protector Plus assists you with covering the additional expenses associated with loss of independence resulting from an impairment (e.g. the cost of a frail care facility, a need to change your nutrition, hiring a home) after age 65.  The benefit pays you a monthly income for as long as you meet the Assessment Criteria.

Long Term Protector Plus is intended to protect the financial quality of your retirement by providing a benefit that assists you to pay for any impairment needs.  A moderate or advanced benefit is available depending on the severity of the impairment.  Most importantly, this benefit is designed to assist you with the monthly costs associated with suffering from an impairment in your retirement years, which could erode your retirement income.

What type of cover does Long Term Protector Plus benefit provide?

This is an non-accelerated benefit, and claims under this benefit will not affect the cover on any of your other benefits.

Long Term Protector Plus

  • A monthly income benefit payable from age 65 to assist in lessening the financial impact of impairment in old age.
  • Non-accelerated benefit.

Entry ages:

  • Min: 15 next birthday, 20 for Age Rated
  • Max: 60 next birthday

Benefit limits:

  • Min: R5 000 pm

Max: R30 000 pm - restricted to the lesser of 100% of monthly salary/turnover or R30 000.

Benefit Term:

  • Whole of life
  • Eligibility to claim commences at age 65

Waiting periods:

3 months

A 1-month waiting period if claim progresses from 50% to 100% of the sum assured.

Assessment criteria:

Include age, physical and mental health, medical history, and ability to perform the Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s).

This benefit is only available if one of the core risk protection benefits is present on the contract, i.e.:
