Funeral Benefit

This benefit provides an immediate cash payout to meet the costs of a funeral following a death in the family. This benefit is available as a non-accelerated benefit only, which means claiming on this benefit will not affect any of your other benefit sums assured.

Funeral Benefit

Pays a lump sum on the death of the life assured, the spouse and the children (present on the contract)
Only the principal life assured may take this benefit, which will then offer the whole family funeral cover
The maximum number of claims per contract is 5
Available as a non-accelerated benefit only

Entry ages:

Min: 15 next birthday, 20 for Age Rated
Max: 60 next birthday

Benefit limits:

Maximum benefit is R30 000. Lump sum expressed as a multiple of R1 000. Choice of 1 X up to 30 X. Limited to R10 000 for children under 6 years of age, including benefit increases.

Benefit term:

Whole of life.

Waiting period:

No waiting period for the principal life assured or spouse life assured if taken at contract inception.

One year waiting period for all present on the contract if taken after contract inception.

One year waiting period for the policyholder’s spouse or children.

No waiting period applies to accidental death.

Cessation of cover:

Cover for the principal life will cease on:

The termination of the contract for any reason
Cancellation of this benefit
Payment of 5 funeral benefit claims on a contract

Cover for the eligible spouse and children will cease on:

The contract anniversary preceding the child’s 18th birthday, or the marriage of the child, whichever is earlier
The spouse becomes the principal life on death of the principal life, provided the spouse is on the contract as the SLA
